September 7, 2007, Newsletter Issue #79: Pallet Truck Configurations

Tip of the Week

BeaconTechnology.com Tip: If you are shopping for a pallet truck, there are three general configurations you can choose from, depending on the basic types of loads which need transporting. First, is the standard configuration where the bottom forks are about the same width on many models as the lifting forks. The "straddle base" has a wider configuration for the bottom forks, which gives more transport options for wider boxes and other materials. The "counterweight base" is exactly what the name implies, a portable product lift designed for heavier objects. The counterweight prevents tipping, especially when raising items with the lifting forks. Consider carefully before buying; if you routinely move heavier items with your portable product lifts, the counterweight base is probably your best bet.
